About

Mission Statement

We aim to be a model community of practicing Muslims from diverse backgrounds—united by faith, governed democratically, and committed to inclusiveness and civic engagement.

Though a minority among minorities, we hold deep pride and loyalty to the United States. Our values—liberty, justice, charity, and democracy—are not just ideals; they are core principles rooted in our faith and passed down through generations.

Grounded in these beliefs, we continue our mission to serve, contribute, and uphold the enduring values that define both our community and this nation.

About United American Muslim Association of N.Y., Inc.

Founded in the late 1970s by Turkish-American families in Brooklyn, the United American Muslim Association of N.Y., Inc. (UAMA) is a not-for-profit religious organization recognized under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and established by a Kings County Supreme Court decision in 1980.

Since its founding on May 29, 1980, UAMA has provided religious, educational, and social services to both its members and the broader community. Rooted in Turkish and Islamic values, the Association promotes civic engagement, cultural preservation, and community support, all while maintaining a non-political and inclusive stance.

From its beginnings with seven founding families, UAMA has grown into a diverse congregation representing Muslims from various backgrounds. It serves as more than just a place of worship—it is a community hub that offers support during life’s joyful and difficult moments alike.

With a strategic vision focused on future generations, UAMA continues to expand its services and attract families committed to faith, culture, and community life in the United States.
