Fatih Mosque is operated by the United American Muslim Association of N.Y., Inc. (“UAMA,” “we,” “us”), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization at 5911 8th Avenue, Brooklyn, New York 11220.
This page explains what information this website collects, why, and what you can ask us to do about it. We have tried to write it in plain language rather than legal boilerplate. If anything here is unclear, call us on 718-438-6919 or email info@fatihmosque.com and we will explain it.
The short version
We collect only what we need to answer your message, enroll your child, or process your donation. We do not sell your information, we do not rent it, and we do not share it with anyone for advertising. Card numbers never reach our website — our payment processor handles those directly.
What we collect
When you contact us
Our contact form asks for your name, email address, phone number and your message. That information is sent to the mosque’s email inbox, where it stays until we no longer need it. We use it to reply to you and nothing else.
When you enroll a child
Enrollment for the kindergarten, weekend classes, summer camp and the boarding school is handled by a form on this website. Depending on the program, that form asks for the child’s name and date of birth, the school and grade they attend, the parent or guardian’s name, relationship and contact details, and anything you choose to tell us — allergies or medical notes, for example.
The form sends what you enter to the mosque’s email inbox, where the staff who run the program can read it. We use it to run the program, to reach you, and to keep our records. We do not use it for any other purpose, and the form does not store your answers anywhere else.
When you donate
Donations are processed by an outside payment provider. When you click a donate button you leave this website and complete the payment on the provider’s own secure page. Your card number, expiry date and security code are never entered on, sent to, or stored by this website.
What we receive back from the provider is the record of the donation — your name, email address, the amount, and the date. We keep that because a nonprofit must keep donation records, and because you may need a receipt for your taxes.
When you simply visit
Like almost every website, our server keeps a short technical log of requests: the IP address, the browser and the page requested. These logs help us keep the site running and secure. They are not used to build a profile of you.
Cookies
A cookie is a small file a website stores in your browser. This site uses very few:
- Necessary cookies — set only for mosque staff who log in to manage the website, and briefly by the contact and enrollment forms to guard against spam. If you are just reading the site, you will not get these.
- Embedded content — the map on our Contact page is served by Google, and it may set its own cookies when it loads. We do not control those cookies. Google’s privacy policy explains them: policies.google.com/privacy.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site will still work.
Other services we use
We keep the list short on purpose. Every service listed here receives some information about your visit:
| Service | What it does | What it sees |
|---|---|---|
| Google Maps | The map on our Contact page | Your IP address when the map loads |
| Google Fonts | The typefaces this site uses | Your IP address when a page loads |
| Our payment provider | Processes donations | Your payment details, entered on their page |
| Our web host | Runs the website and delivers our email | Server logs, and what you send through the forms |
Children
This matters to us, because much of what we do is for children.
Our enrollment form is meant to be completed by a parent or legal guardian, not by a child. We do not knowingly collect personal information online directly from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted information to us without a parent’s involvement, contact us and we will delete it.
A parent or guardian may ask us at any time to show them what information we hold about their child, to correct it, or to delete it. We will not make continued participation in a program conditional on giving us more information than the program actually needs.
Photographs
We sometimes publish photographs from our programs, classes and events on this website and on our social media. Where a child’s identity is not the point of the photograph, we blur faces before publishing.
If you would prefer that your child not appear in photographs at all, tell us — in writing or in person — and we will respect that. If a photograph of you or your child is already on this site and you want it removed, email info@fatihmosque.com and we will take it down.
Who we share information with
We do not sell or rent your information to anyone, ever.
We share it only in these situations:
- With the service providers listed above, so they can do the job we use them for.
- With our accountants and auditors, for the financial records a nonprofit is required to keep.
- Where the law requires it, or to protect someone’s safety.
How long we keep it
- Contact messages — until the matter is dealt with, and then no longer than is useful.
- Enrollment records — for as long as the child is enrolled, and afterwards as long as our records require.
- Donation records — for the period required of a 501(c)(3) organization by tax and accounting rules.
- Server logs — a short period, then overwritten.
What you can ask us to do
You can ask us to show you the information we hold about you, to correct anything that is wrong, to delete it, or to stop contacting you. Write to info@fatihmosque.com or call 718-438-6919 and we will deal with it.
Some records we may have to keep even after you ask — donation records in particular, because tax rules require it. If that is the case we will tell you plainly, rather than quietly ignoring the request.
Security
The site is served over an encrypted connection (HTTPS), access to the website’s administration is limited to a small number of people, and payment details are handled entirely by our payment provider. No website can promise perfect security, but we do not keep information we do not need, which is the best protection there is.
Links to other sites
This website links to other organizations, including our dormitory site and our Hajj and Umrah partner. Once you follow a link, you are on someone else’s site and their privacy policy applies, not ours.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle information, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Significant changes will be announced at the mosque.
